Practice mode versus test mode

Show instant feedback decides when you see right or wrong. Here is how to choose a mode and set the timer to match your goal for the session.

Two ways to run the same session

One toggle in the practice detail separates them: Show instant feedback.

  • On (practice mode): every answer is marked right or wrong immediately, with its explanation. Good while you are still building a feel for a question type.
  • Off (test mode): all marking is held until you submit. You work through the whole set first, then see everything at once in the report. Good for measuring where you actually stand.

Stay in practice mode until you can explain why your answer is right, then switch to test mode to check whether that understanding survives time pressure.

The timer

The timer is independent of the feedback setting, so you can mix them freely: relaxed practice with no clock, or full exam conditions with a countdown.

The default duration is 8 minutes per question package. You can set a different number or turn the timer off entirely. If time runs out, the session submits automatically with the answers you have.

The duration you choose also becomes the pacing target in your report, so your average time per question can be compared against it. With the timer off there is no target to compare against.

Assessments are not configurable

Pretests and posttests always run in test mode with the timer on, and their question count is fixed. Neither the feedback nor the timer option appears for them.
